Rosewhisker is certainly not a large cat. On the contrary; she is positively tiny, barely looking big enough to be a warrior. She might grow with age, but it seems that she's going to remain permanently tiny, or at least permanently relatively small. Still, she's not a bad-looking cat, although she somewhat hangs around with a crowd none of whom will notice. It really doesn't bother her, though. But she's certainly a pretty little thing, thaking after both her parents in equal proportion, rather than taking after her mother (like her older brother) or her father (like her sister). No, she is a nice mix of the appearances of both cats, although her size definitely comes from her mother.
Going with Rosewhisker's tiny body is the fact that she isn't all that muscular, looking as thin as a twig, and half the size. There is hardly any fat on this girl; on thecontrary, she exercises quite a lot, so as not to get fat, because that is something she does not wish to do. As a result, she manages to stay thin and looking young. She knows it won't last forever, but she'll enjoy it while it lasts, certainly.
On that note, Rosewhisker's fur is, for the most part, white. It's moderately-long and extremely soft, almost oddly so, butthe most noticable thing about this she-cat's pelt is its colouration, and that is because it isn't entirely white. No; on her face there are ginger-tabby markings, and very good they look too. They are mostly under her eyes, although there are some around her eyes and on her forehead, and, lastly, her tail is also speckled with this colour, although less obviously than her face.
It isn't really relevant, but Rosewhisker has rather large ears, and she is quite proud of these ears. The insides of her ears are very soft and pink, peppered with tiny, pale hairs, almost inperceptible unless one happens to be looking particularly at her ears.
Lastly, Rosewhiskers eyes.
Oh, her eyes.
They're a very deep shade of blue, but at the same time, they're extremely piercing, almost frighteningly so. But her eyes are also extremely beautiful, the sort that many toms "could drown in" (of course, she won't take that from a tom, because she honestly doesn't care). But her eyes are extremely beautiful and piercing.[/ul]

- Rabbitwhisker :: She hates her for insulting Smudgewhisker and Shadowclaw.
- Greyrose :: She hates her for not doing anything to stop Rabbitwhisker.
- Whitetail :: Ugh, God… Whitetail is a major annoyance. Also, she insulted Shadowclaw and Smudgewhisker.
- Loud noise :: It distracts her, and is just plain annoying. Grr.
- Apprentices (apart from her brothers) :: They're loud and annoying.

- Espionage :: This girl is the living embodiment of sneaky, and she can hear and spread a rumour before you could say the names of the cats involved.
- Fighting :: She is a skilled and fast fighter.
- Speaking :: She could speak for IceClan, really. She has very poetic speech-patterns, too.

- Protective :: She will rip your throat out if you so happen to threaten somebody she is friends with, and this is, in many ways, a major flaw.
- Rash :: She rushes in to everything without thinking, and often lands herself in trouble as a result.

- Rats :: She thinks they're creepy, and she's paranoid that she'll get an infection from one and die.
- Snakes :: Anything that doesn't have feet just isn't right - particularly if a bite can kill.
- Flowing water :: Don't even bother trying to get her to go near a river. Or a stream. Or anything of the sort. Because she's deathly afraid of them.
- Nettles :: Ugh, LightClan... Touching them stings.
- Twolegs :: Oh, good LightClan. She's deathly afraid of twolegs. She worries that they'll snap her neck - and with good reason.

At first glance, Rosewhisker appears to be every inch the lady, and quite the cute little one at that. But this is not true.[/ul]

Naturally, he moved as far away from her as he possibly could, but Rosepaw noticed him watching her from a distance occasionally. Weird... Still, no harm in it: they were Clanmates, and Rosepaw was often described as a confident fighter, so... well, maybe he was watching her because of that?
Yeah, probably.
In any case, apprenticeship was passing relatively peacefully until Rosepaw was eight moons old, and she realized something that she would much rather not have: she had a crush on Smudgepaw. Obviously, she was not going to come straight out and tell him, so she she just put up with it and carried on with her training.
One morning, Rosepaw was lying in the apprentices' den when she heard talking from outside. She half opened one eye, meaning to go and tell them to shut off (she could tell that they were apprentices), but then she actually started listening to the conversation.
“You know, you really don't belong here. Why not just go back to being an Outsider, because you know that you really aren't welcome here.”
“The leader accepted me in to this Clan.”
“See! You can't even remember our leader's name!”
Rosepaw didn't know why, but she completely ignored the talking and pretended to be asleep again, but she felt bad for Shadowpaw, who proceeded to go and lie back beside Darkpaw, his little brother. She wouldn't have guessed at Shadowpaw's reaction, though - he was more upset than he seemed, internally, but, despite being extremely observant, Rosepaw didn't notice.
She sat with Shadowpaw and Darkpaw at the Clan meeting, and, needless to say, she tried to remain completely silent, but she eventually said, “You know, they say that to every cat who was formerly an Outsider, right?”
Shadowpaw looked lazily around at her.
“Yeah. I know. Smudgepaw told me earlier.”
Rosepaw wanted to say more to Shadowpaw, but the meeting commenced.
The next moon, Smudgepaw became a warrior - Smudgewhisker -, and two more cats joined Rosepaw's family: Thunderkit and Lightningkit. Rosepaw quickly adjusted to the other two kits, and was frequently observed to be chatting to them.
For a while, life passed slowly. Shadowpaw befriended Rosepaw and Smudgewhisker, and he became part of the little group of friends: Shadowpaw, Petalpaw, Rosepaw and Smudgewhisker, who still found time to talk to his old friends, even though he was a warrior these days.
Even so, Rosepaw wouldn't have seen what was coming next; not if she had wanted to.
It started when a she-cat called Rabbitpaw; a beautiful little thing, by all means, but as mean as anything, approached her and said she had found out something interesting about Shadowpaw that she thought Rosepaw might want to know. The problem was, Rabbitpaw informed her, that she didn't quite know if it was true.
But what she had heard would, either way, change Rosepaw's life.
Apparently, Shadowpaw and Smudgewhisker were more than friends, and romantically involved with one another.
At first, Rosepaw refused to find out; why should she pry in to the lives of her friends for Rabbitpaw, a she-cat whose existance she had only found out about that afternoon?!
But then... then she remembered that she liked Smudgewhisker, just as much as ever before, and that she didn't want to lose him.
But did it matter?
Rosepaw decided that it did. So she listened to Shadowpaw and Smudgewhisker, who were assigned a hunting patrol with her, luckily. She followed them at a safe distance, hardly wanting to believe that anything could be going on between her two best friends?
They would have told her, right?
Right?
...
Well no.
No, they wouldn't; not directly, at least.
She overheard them talking, and it was then she realized that she had something of a talent at espionage.
Most of the clan had found out by the next morning.
Naturally, neither of the two toms would ever suspect their closest friend, but so it went on.
Rabbitpaw now had another lackey, along with Greypaw, a she-cat apprentice two moons younger than them. She would prove to be the major annoyance of the rest of Rosepaw's life, although she didn't know it at the time.
Still, the four apprentices seemed to be close friends, but underneath the calm waters, trouble was brewing.
“You want me to do what?!”
“It's quite simple. You go for a walk with them to the Ravine, and start badmouthing them.”
“But Smudgewhisker is twice my size! he'd kill me in an instant, particularly where Shadowpaw is concerned!”
”Yeah, and?”
“And him killing me would result in my life ending.”
“Yeah, and good riddance.”
“Are these idiots givin' you trouble, Rosepaw?” Shadowpaw sounded nice enough, but his dark fur was bristling and his face was twisted in to a sneer. None of the three she-cats had reckoned on him knowing exactly what was going on thanks to Thunderpaw and Lightningpaw. “Y'know, maybe Mother was right. You can never trust a Clan cat. And you know what? You can't! So Rosepaw, I don't even want to see you again. I guess I was stupid for thinking that I could ever trust you. Well, I won't make that mistake again. See you later - NOT.”
It took Rosepaw until that evening to realize what Shadowpaw meant, but the second she did realize, she ran out of camp without getting Nightstar's permission and ran to the Ravine.
By the looks of it, she was too late.
But she wasn't.
As it turned out, Shadowpaw had jumped, but rocks had broken his fall, and he had tumbled down and fallen in to the river, where he had managed to crawl out and on to the shore, where he had subsequently collapsed, unable to move due to a broken leg, a dislocated shoulder and many broken and bruised ribs.
At first, Rosepaw truly thought that her friend was dead. But, when she ran close to him, he glared up wordlessly at her. Rosepaw had never been so thankful for her friend glaring at her in her entire life.
“Th...is... is you...r fault.”[/ul]

“What, by changing moss, gathering herbs - actually, that one I could understand - and watching kits?”
“Well, yeah.”
As the two of them were speaking, the leader appeared in the TunnelBowl, so the two cats got up and went to sit with Smudgewhisker. He purred, nudging Rosepaw's side and twining his tail in with Shadowpaw's
"Let all those cats old enough to catch their own prey join here in the TunnelBowl for a Clan meeting!"
Shadowpaw yawned lazily as Lightningkit and Thunderkit were nudged forward by Lightwing, who nodded at his sister, smirking. Petalpaw gently poked shy Lightningkit towards his brother.
The leader first looked at Thunderkit, weighing him up.
"From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be called Thunderpaw." She looked Thudnerpaw up and down, and then looked at IceClan. "Your mentor will be Hawkwhisker. I hope you will pass on your intelligence and gentleness."
She then looked at Lightningpaw, who was shuddering under his leader's gentle gaze.
"Don't be afraid, little one," the older cat said softly. "From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be called Lightningpaw." She looked Lightningpaw up and down, and then looked at IceClan. "Your mentor will be Harefur. I hope you will pass on your confidence and fighting ability."
The two new apprentices touched noses with their mentors, and the Clan chanted their new names. As they returned to sit with their sister, she murmured, “Congratulations.”
But the meeting wasn't over. Nightstar called Shadowpaw, Rosepaw and Petalpaw up to the TunnelBowl next.
"I, Nightstar, leader of IceClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as warriors in their turn. Rosepaw, Shadowpaw, Petalpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do," all three said at once.
"Then by the powers of LightClan I give you your warrior names: Rosepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Rosewhisker. LightClan honours your intelligence and your cunning, and we welcome you as a full warrior of IceClan."
"Shadowpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Shadowclaw. LightClan honours your speed and your fighting ability, and we welcome you as a full warrior of IceClan."
The last apprentice to get her warrior name was Petalpaw. She became Petaltail.
As the three apprentices sat together guarding the camp from intruders, it was almost as though all the conflict between Shadowclaw and Rosewhisker was seeping out of their bones.
From then on, things would be normal.
Or as normal as they ever were.[/ul]
